the 5 W's

New music created the old fashioned way. That's always been my mission. As both a musician and a singer I have tremendous appreciation for every aspect of the creation process, from conception to completion.   Dissecting the harmonies of Mint Condition, Take 6, Boyz II Men, and Jodeci set my standard for the beauty of sound that transcend one's mind to a blissful state. The original rhythms of Timbaland, Teddy Riley, DeVanté Swing, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis encouraged the value of uncompromising, original composition as a staple in my productions. The poetry of Eric Benét, Anthony Hamilton, Eric Roberson, and Raheem DeVaughn spurred an evolution of my use of words to birth emotion in every song. Listening to interviews of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight, Musiq Soulchild and the motivations behind their music, sculpted my understanding of the purpose and the power of music. It's the language of the heart, the expression of the soul, and the embodiment of one's aspirations.

I set out to be a singer, then a producer, then a writer, then a recording engineer, but when I asked a friend to sum me up in one word she said, "MUSICIAN" For non-musicians, it may mean nothing. For true musicians, it means everything. It means more than fame, more than money, more than any other title -- except one. One that can only be maintained by continuing to create and staying true to oneself and true to the music. I hope that after releasing this album I'll be known by a different title...
